Savor The Sunrise

sunrise

Even as I write up this post, the sun is barely peeking over the rooftops. I am snug on my porch with my coffee and laptop. My cat, Simon, peering enviously through the curtains at me, longing to be in the morning air, chasing birds and munching dewey blades of grass.

Appropriate then, that the name of the house I am featuring in this post, is The Victorian Sunrise Cottage from DaD Designs. This little gem of a house is available for a few more days at Shiny Shabby before it makes it’s way to the DaD Main-store.

There are a few things that I really love about this home and I want to share those with you. Curb appeal gets a “10” from me. The porch is begging to be dressed up and adorned with bodies lazing in the shade. The detailed sections at the top of the porch remind me of the gingerbread lattices on the Victorian homes of the Mid-West. The architecture remains consistent throughout the home and the interiors are adorned with nicely aged textures that are not “overdone.” The scaling of this home is on the realistic size, which, I appreciate as a decorator. It is the perfect first or second  home for many situations.

Information from the creator:

Scattered around the house there are buttons and by touch to access the menu where areas of the house have been loaded:
Living Room
Kitchen
Room 1
Room 2
Room 3
Hallway

For each zone, there is 74 pre-loaded colors to choose from, to personalize your new home and make it unique internally and externally.

FLOORS:
Edit mode Cottage then – Select face to add your texture floor.

WINDOWS:
The windows open by touch as the doors to the easy step.

There are also on Weather Vanes to be placed on the roof of the gazebo

The Feasts Of Fall Are Coming

falldininga

Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. Everything around me changes from the scenery and the smells, right down to the way the air feels against my skin. I love every facet of Fall and all of it glorious change. Jill and I have begun prepping for it already on our sim and at home. Some say it’s too early but where I live, our trees have already begun to drop their leaves and the nights and mornings have taken on that telltale “nip.” That is my cue to go wild!

Today I am highlighting the dining area because it is one of my favorite places to be this time of year. Tucked up around the table with friends, family and an abundance of rich and rustic Fall fare.

Sail Home Feat. DaD Designs

Sail Home

“The details are not the details, they make the design.”

– Charles Eames

If you are anything like me, you take home shopping very seriously. Sure, you look at the house size, number of rooms and other obvious things like textures and land impact. You’re also looking at the character of the home, little things that speak to you, draw you in and give you the desire to build your haven in this space. Perhaps it is an open floor plan or a grand staircase that catches your eye, whatever it is, there is always that “something” that will sell a house for each individual person.

Today I had the pleasure of working with the White Plains Plantation House, fresh off the design line from DaD Designs. This home, available at the current round of Fameshed is truly gorgeous. I happen to live in Charleston so this particular style appeals to me greatly and I find it to be very true to the architecture found throughout much of my area of the South.

The house itself has a few qualities I really admire and find very important when choosing  a home in Second Life. The first being that it is interesting – from every angle. Each side of this house has a “pretty” and functional design. I also really appreciated the realism used in designing the interior rooms. Each room is thoughtfully laid out and flows well while giving you a lot of options for “room types.”

To quote the creators description:

“A graceful, spiral staircase welcomes you inside with library.
The double living room on the right, and on the left the dining room with access to the kitchen.
By kitchen you can go out and access to the laundry room which is also connected with a garage
Casual family sitting areas further back.
Upstairs 4 rooms large and spacious and all with access or on the terraces or balconies.
The master bedroom has a second room which can be used as a study or a private bathroom.
Same chance in two other rooms.
The windows of the whole house can be opened and have been arranged openings of different heights to create the most natural look possible.”

Another thing to note about this house and something I think adds to the functionality of this home are the customization options. You will find “touch to access” menus located throughout the home that give you over 70 pre-loaded color options for customizing wall colors.

I have included some raw (windlight only) photos in this post a long with the editorial image because I wanted to really show you the charm of the house without the interference of pretty filters or interior decor drawing the eye away from the house itself. I highly recommend a walk-through of this home which you can do on location at the Demo area of Fameshed.

Paradise Lost

R&R.jpg

Tropical themes are something I am incredibly fond of and I especially like to decorate for them. The Jessica set from Di’Cor is the perfect addition to this set up for a little last minute summer R&R. I always try to mention how generous this designer is with texture change options and this set is no exception as the cushions offer multiple selections. I found that there were great choices for turning these into a less tropical style as well if you’re looking for something more country/shabby/etc , these would absolutely work!

A Little Swanky Feat. Di’Cor

Clean Swank
I get into a lot of different styles and one I have begun to enjoy recently is a clean design with geometric shapes for effect. Di’Cor released this set at the newest round of Cosmopolitan and it gave me an excellent opportunity to play with shapes and have a little fun with creating a design that was “out of the box” for me. Once again, lots of texture change options from this very generous designer and several pieces are included with this set.

Check out Di’Cor on Facebook for new releases and upcoming events!
